Beginnings

Beginnings of Battle of Phendari

Welcome to the Battle of Phendari—a game born from the shared imagination and collaboration of a father-son duo. It all started one spring break when, at just 10 years old, the son dreamed up a world where players could assemble, train, and battle with enchanting Phendari creatures. Armed with nothing but paper, a pencil, and boundless creativity, he spent the week sketching ideas, learning to draw adorable creatures through art tutorials, and giving life to his vision on the page.

As the game evolved, what began as a modest project quickly blossomed into a dynamic, full-fledged game featuring 16 distinct characters across 10 diverse levels. It now incorporates 20 custom dice, a double-sided game board, and over 200 token cards, each imbuing unique abilities that bring battles to life.

A Journey of Creation and Transformation

Over the next two years, the father-son team began the transition from rough paper sketches to the game’s first printed version. With the help of an experienced designer and the innovative capabilities of AI, their ideas took shape, transforming into the vibrant, battle-ready warriors you see today. Each iteration brought new excitement, as the creatures of Phendari evolved from simple drawings into fierce, meticulously crafted champions ready for the battlefield.

While the complete board game featuring 2-on-2 family gameplay is still in development, the first release of Battle of Phendari is ready to be shared with fans. This initial version focuses on high-energy character battles, inviting players to dive into the Phendari universe through epic, card-based skirmishes.

1 Million Cards: A Finite Universe of Epic Battles

The Battle of Phendari universe is immense in scope but strictly limited—only 1 million cards will ever be created. Each card bears its unique number, making every piece a cherished part of this multi-year, special-edition collection. This exclusivity transforms each card into a collector’s treasure, ensuring that no two collections will ever be the same.

The Genesis Edition is currently in print and available, offering players the first chance to build their collection and join the Battle of Phendari legacy. The next chapter, the Nocturnal Legends Edition, is already in development, bringing new creatures and strategies into the fold.

How to Play

Overview

Battle of Phendari is a strategic card and dice game where players harness the powers of unique Phendari creatures to battle their opponents. Each creature card represents a different attack level with its own strengths and abilities, and players roll dice to determine the effectiveness of their attacks. With multiple gameplay modes to explore, the goal remains the same: outmaneuver and overpower your opponent to achieve victory. Here’s how to jump into the fray and emerge victorious in the land of Phendari.

Blind War Gameplay

Setup:
Each player opens their Battle Pack, containing 9 cards. Without changing the order, place them face-down as your deck. Prepare a full set of dice: D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, and D20.

Play a Card:
Both players simultaneously reveal the top card from their decks by placing it face-up in the center. Each card indicates which die to roll.

Dice Roll:
Players roll the die indicated on their cards. The result of the roll determines the attack result for that card in this round.

Resolving the Round:
Compare the attack results. The player with the higher attack result wins the round. In the case of a tie, both players reroll their dice until a winner is determined.

Continuing Play:
Discard the cards played, and repeat the process by revealing the next card in your deck.

Winning the Game:
Play continues until one player cannot continue because all their cards have been defeated. The other player is declared the winner.

Dice Roll:
Roll the die indicated by your card’s attack value. The result determines your attack for this round.

Resolving the Round:
Compare attack results. The player with the higher total wins the round. In the event of a tie, reroll until the tie is broken.

Continuing Play:
Discard the cards played, and continue to the next card in your arranged deck.

Winning the Game:
Continue until a player has no cards left to play. The other player is declared the winner.

Big Army Play

Setup:
Players can combine cards from multiple Battle Packs, agreeing on a specific number of cards for their decks—such as 18 or 20—to ensure a balanced game.

Card Selection:
Each player carefully selects their cards, balancing strong and moderate creatures to form a competitive deck. To ensure fair play, players may agree to use cards with similar attack values.

Winner Takes All Variant

In this high-stakes mode, the winner claims all of the opponent’s cards at the end of the game. Players must carefully select their cards, balancing risk and reward as every battle could change the course of their collection. Choose wisely, as each victory brings greater rewards—and higher stakes.
